The first question of Fatwa number ( 10652 )
Q1: In some books of our Urdu language, it is written on the tongue of the people the phrase: ( There is no young man but 'Ali , and no sword but Dhu al-Fiqar ). Is this phrase
authentic and found in the books of hadith, as if the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said it to 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), or is this a fabrication that people fabricated? I heard that this is the saying of 'Isa ibn Mahrān , the lying Rafidi?

Vol. 1: The hadith: (There is no young man but 'Ali , and no sword but Dhu al-Fiqar) has no basis, and it may be something fabricated by the Shi'ah. Al-Mulla 'Ali al-Qari said in his book (Al-Asrar al-Marfua' fi al-Akhbar al-Mawdu'ah), known as (Al-Mawdu'at al-Kubra, p. 384), the following: The hadith: (There is no young man but 'Ali , and no sword but Dhu al-Fiqar) has no basis that can be relied upon. Yes, it is narrated in a weak athar from al-Hasan ibn 'Arafah al-'Abdi from the hadith of Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn 'Ali al-Baqir who said: An angel from the sky called Ridwan called out at Badr (There is no sword but Dhu al-Fiqar, and no young man but 'Ali ). He mentioned it thus in (Al-Riyadh al-Nadira) and said: Dhu al-Fiqar is the name of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) sword, and it was named so because it had small notches in it. I say: And what indicates its invalidity is that if this had been called out from the sky at Badr , the noble Companions would have heard it, and the great Imams would have transmitted it from them. This is similar to what is transmitted about the beating of drums around Badr , which they attribute to the angels on a continuous basis from the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to this day. This is false in reason and transmission, even though Ibn Marzuq mentioned it and al-Qastallani followed him in (Mawahib). This is the end of what al-Mulla (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
