The Meaning of the Succession of Events

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 17749 )
Q 1: Whatis the meaning of the succession of events, and doesShaykh al-Islam Ahmad ibn Taymiyyahhold to it? However, I have heard this from some students of knowledge, and I know with certainty that he (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The first thing Allah created was the Throne. He (may Allah have mercy on him) answered with this when he was asked which came first, the Throne or the Pen?
A: The succession of events is one of the newly coined expressions introduced by the scholars of Kalam. By this, they mean that the actions of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, must have a beginning and are not eternal; so that it does not necessitate the existence of multiple eternal entities, for there is no eternal entity except Allah. This is a false, newly introduced statement in Islam; because the eternity of the actions and attributes of Allah does not necessitate the existence of multiple eternal entities. Allah, the Exalted, is eternal in His actions and attributes; His actions have no beginning, just as He Himself has no beginning. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
