What is the ruling on eating from slaughtered animals if the butcher does not invoke the name of Allah over all of his slaughters, but only invokes it over the first one?

The questioner : The second question says: It is widespread in our country that butchers do not invoke the name of Allah over all their slaughters, but they invoke it over the first one and slaughter the rest without invoking the name. One of them informed us of this. What is the ruling on eating from such slaughters?

The Shaykh : Eating from these slaughters, if it is from the animal over which the name of Allah was invoked, is lawful and there is no harm in it. If it is from the animals over which the name of Allah was not invoked, it is forbidden, based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And do not eat of that upon which the name of Allah has not been mentioned, for indeed, it is grave disobedience. ولا تأكلوا مما لم يذكر اسم الله عليه وإنه لفسق
[Al-An'am 6:121]
and the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
(Use) whatever causes the blood to flow, mention the Name of Allah and eat ما أنهر الدم وذكر اسم الله عليه فكل
Sunan Ibn Majah 3178Sahih (Darussalam)
If the matter is confused and we do not know whether this slaughtered animal is from those over which the name of Allah was invoked or from the other slaughters, then it is not lawful, because it is mixed with what is forbidden. And it is not possible to avoid the forbidden except by avoiding all of them, so it is obligatory to avoid all of them. However, I advise these butchers to fear Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in themselves and in their Muslim brothers, and to invoke the name of Allah the Exalted over every slaughtered animal, unless the action is one and the slaughters are multiple. In that case, there is no harm in invoking the name once, such as gathering several chickens, for example, and slaughtering them with one action and saying "Bismillah." There is no harm in that.

The questioner : Meaning, with one movement, they slaughter all of them.

The Shaykh : Yes, with one action they slaughter all of them, for there is no harm in that because they invoked the name over this action, and all of them are present before them, and the name was invoked over them, so there is no harm in it.
