Saying that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and His Messenger are innocent of me on the Day of Resurrection if I do such and such

The third question from Fatwa number ( 19966 )
Q 3: I was a smoker, and one night more than twenty years ago, a colleague visited me. Shortly after he entered, the call to the 'Isha' prayer was made, so I said to him: Let us go to pray with the congregation. He said to me: The time for 'Isha' is long, and I will pray when I return to my house. I said to him: You are a man of good heart and noble character, but you do not keep up the prayers with the Muslim congregation. He said to me: And you, with
your keeping up the prayers, have a legal defect, which is that you smoke, and smoking is forbidden due to its impurity. I said to him: What do you think if we make a pact such that I quit smoking and you pray with the people in congregation? He said to me: I challenge you, and I agree to that if you can, so I swore an oath, the substance of which is as follows: If I smoke a cigarette or anything similar to it, such as a hookah or a nargile, then Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and His Messenger are innocent of me on the Day of Resurrection . So, praise be to Allah, I quit and left smoking. After ten years had passed since I left it, I smoked for only one or two days, then I left it, and I have continued to leave it and renounce it. For about five years, I have rarely met with some colleagues who smoke nargiles or shisha, as some call it, and I smoke with them about once a year. My question now is: Does this oath take effect on me, and will Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and His Messenger be innocent of me on the Day of Resurrection, and my good deeds will not be accepted - may Allah forbid - etc., or is that considered an oath? And what must I do? Do I have to expiate for every time I smoked or used shisha, which amounts to about (five times) since I quit it 20 years ago, or what should I do? Please inform and guide me with what must be done to take me out of this obsession, and may Allah reward you with Paradise and its bliss, and gather us all in the Garden of Firdaus, if Allah wills.

A: This wording you mentioned is not considered an oath, but rather a commitment
by you to quit smoking, and a supplication against yourself if you return to it. So you must repent to Allah, quit smoking, and be cautious of it and of sitting with its people; because it is forbidden. May Allah protect you from it and accept your repentance. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
