An American group denies some of what came in the Qur'an

Fatwa number ( 18265 )
Q: There is in America an Islamic group whose name or imam I prefer not to mention at this time. The situation is this: The imam of this group has repeatedly made statements of disbelief. For example, he said: that 'Isa was actually crucified, and that Allah did not part the sea for Musa , and that it is permissible for a Muslim woman to marry a Christian, and that the Christian is better than the Muslim. When he heard about the verse of stoning, he said: that it is barbarism and that it is not obligatory to apply it. He said about the four schools of jurisprudence that they are schools exclusively for the Arabs, and he established for himself a special school that suits Americans. He used to say about himself: that he is the Messiah and that he is the Mahdi, then he abandoned that. And there is much of this in this regard. A man from his group came to us who had been an imam in his country for nearly twenty years, and upon coming here he learned that these are statements of disbelief, and gradually he learned about the Salafi methodology. He swears by Allah that he had not heard of the Salafi methodology except here. After it became clear to him the disbelief of this imam, we asked him to disavow him. He said: that he knows he is a disbeliever, but he does not want to leave his loyalty to the group in order to reform it from within. The question: What is the ruling on this man? Is it permissible for him to enter that group with the intention of Islam, or is it obligatory for him to disavow the imam? And if he refuses that, is it obligatory to boycott him?
A : These mentioned statements are statements of disbelief; because they contradict
the Book and the Sunnah and the consensus of the Muslims, and whoever says them, or believes them, or believes the one who says them, or does not disavow them, is a disbeliever. It is not permissible to attribute this group, which adheres to these statements or some of them, to Islam. It is not permissible to enter this group except with the intention of denouncing them and calling them to repentance and entering Islam. If they refuse that, it is obligatory to boycott them, stay away from them, and warn against them. Allah the Exalted said:
You will not find a people who believe in Allah and the Last Day having affection for those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, even if they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their kindredلاَ تَجِدُ قَوْمًا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ يُوَادُّونَ مَنْ حَادَّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلَوْ كَانُوا آبَاءَهُمْ أَوْ أَبْنَاءَهُمْ أَوْ إِخْوَانَهُمْ أَوْ عَشِيرَتَهُمْ
[Al-Mujadila 58:22]
, and Allah the Exalted said:
There has already been for you an excellent pattern in Abraham and those with him, when they said to their people, "Indeed, we are disassociated from you and from whatever you worship other than Allah. We have denied you, and there has appeared between us and you animosity and hatred forever until you believe in Allah aloneقَدْ كَانَتْ لَكُمْ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ فِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ إِذْ قَالُوا لِقَوْمِهِمْ إِنَّا بُرَآءُ مِنْكُمْ وَمِمَّا تَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ كَفَرْنَا بِكُمْ وَبَدَا بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمُ الْعَدَاوَةُ وَالْبَغْضَاءُ أَبَدًا حَتَّى تُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَحْدَهُ
[Al-Mumtahanah 60:4]
. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
