Fatwa number ( 1635 )
Q: I have attached a paper for you on which is written (The Circle of Light). Is it a reality or a myth, knowing that it contains names such as: Saqatim, Saqfatis, and others whose meaning is not understood, as well as verses from the Qur'an? What is your opinion on that?
A : It is not permissible to use talismans, including the disjointed letters and unknown names whose meaning is not known, and they may be the names of devils. Even if their meaning were known, it would not be permissible to use them; because that is calling upon other than Allah and seeking help from other than Allah. And that is major shirk (associating partners with Allah) if the intention is to call for aid through these names, or it is a means to shirk if one intends to seek blessing from them or thinks that they are a cause for healing or the attainment of what is desired. And writing something from the Noble Qur'an with them is from deception and mixing the truth with falsehood. So it is obligatory to burn such papers and books containing these talismans and to warn against them.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
