Tawassul in the month of Safar

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 20316 )
Q: You will find attached a supplication that was found being distributed among some visitors regarding the month of Safar , and in it is the statement: (O Allah, by the status of al-Hasan and his brother, his grandfather, and his father, protect us from the evil of this day and what descends in it, O the Sufficient
and Allah will be sufficient for you against them. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing.فَسَيَكْفِيكَهُمُ اللَّهُ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
[Al-Baqarah 2:137]
, and Allah is sufficient for us and He is the best Disposer of affairs, and there is no power nor might except in Allah, the Most High, the Magnificent. O Allah, we ask You by Your beautiful names, Your perfect words, and the honor of Your Prophet, our master Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), to protect us and to keep us safe from Your trials, O the Repeller of calamities, O the Reliever of distress, and O the Remover of grief, remove from us what has been written for us in this year of distress or grief, for You are capable of all things). I hope that Your Eminence will graciously look into it.

A : This is an innovated supplication in that it is specified for a particular time, and in it is
seeking nearness to Allah through al-Hasan and al-Husayn, through the sanctity of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and his status, and through names by which Allah was named that are not established in the Qur'an or the Sunnah. Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) is not permissible to be named except by what He named Himself with in His Book, or by the tongue of His Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Seeking nearness to Allah through persons or their status in supplication is a religious innovation, and every religious innovation is misguidance and a means to associating partners with Allah. Therefore, it is obligatory to prevent its distribution and to destroy whatever is found of it. It appears that it is from the infiltration ofthe Shi'ahthe misguiders. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
