The second husband of a woman is a mahram to her daughters from her first husband

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 10341 )
Q: There is a wife whose husband died, leaving behind daughters who are grown in age. After her waiting period ended, she married another man, and her daughters, whom she had borne from the first man, lived with her in the second man’s house. It so happened that Allah willed that this wife died while with the second man, or the second husband. Her daughters used to uncover themselves in front of his presence during her lifetime and after her death as well. The question here is: Is it permissible for these daughters to uncover themselves in front of her second husband after their mother’s death, or not?

A: The second husband of a woman is a mahram to her daughters from her first husband, and they are his stepdaughters. It is permissible for them to uncover themselves in front of him; because he is one of their mahrams, even after the death of their mother. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
