Is the father's wife's mother a non-mahram to the children of the other wife?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 10495 )
Q2: My father married another woman besides my mother. Is the mother of this wife a mahram to my father's children from the second wife, or is she not a mahram, such that it is forbidden to look at her, sit with her, or be alone with her? May you remain in good health.
A2: The father's wife's mother is considered a non-mahram to the children of the other wife, and the aforementioned children are not mahrams to the father's wife's mother. Therefore, hijab is obligatory for her, and it is not permissible to be alone with her or to travel with them, because they are not mahrams to her. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
