A woman covering her 'awrah (the part of the body that must be covered) in front of her children

Fatwa number ( 20576 )
Q:I am a married woman, and sometimes at home I wear light clothingthat is skin-tight or short, which shows what is above the knee when I sit, in order to facilitate movement while doing household chores, to relieve the intense heat, and to adorn myself in front of my husband. However, my husband advised me not to wear such clothing because of our children, who are between 3 and 9 years old, and out of fear that the scenes they see now will not be erased from their memories when they grow up, but I did not accept his advice.
on the basis that our children are still young, and that there is no fear of fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) for them. Since this matter has occupied my thoughts, and desiring to please my Lord and not anger Him, I wrote to you hoping for clarification of the Shari'ah (Islamic sacred law) ruling on this, and guidance as you see fit.

A: It is obligatory for you to obey your husband in what is good, and this includes what he ordered you to do regarding covering yourself and being modest in front of your children, so that they do not become accustomed to seeing 'awrah (the part of the body that must be covered) and the charms of women. What is permissible to reveal to the children is: what is customary to reveal; such as the face, hands, forearms, feet, and the like. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
