"O Allah, for You I fasted, and upon Your provision I broke my fast": Did this hadith come down?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : And their saying:
O Allah, for Thee I have fasted, and with Thy provision I have broken my fast. اللهم لك صمت وعلى رزقك أفطرت
Sunan Abi Dawud 2358Da'if (Al-Albani)
Did this hadith come down?

The Shaykh : This also came down, but it was criticized for being mursal, because it is from one of the Tabi'un (the generation after the Companions) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), namely Mu'adh ibn Zuhrah, who is a Tabi'i. Therefore, the hadith is mursal. According to the scholars of hadith, if a hadith is mursal—meaning the Tabi'i or the Companion who did not hear from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) attributed it to him—it is considered munqati' (a report with a broken chain). Thus, it is not judged as valid until the intermediary between this man and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is known.

The questioner : May Allah thank you and magnify your reward.
