Women on the Telephone
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 11533 )
Q2: I have a very close friend, and when I go to his place, he talks to girls on the phone and flirts with them, and they do the same. Sometimes I talk to them myself. What should I do—although he is my dearest friend on earth—and what should I say to him, and what should I advise him?
A2: It is forbidden to talk to women with desire, except to one’s wife or what one’s right hand possesses; because that is a means to fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) and to the occurrence of corruption. What is of that nature has been prohibited by the Shari'ah, just as it has prohibited seclusion with a non-mahram woman and her traveling without a mahram. You must fear Allah regarding yourself and advise your friend to avoid flirting with women and everything that involves fitnah (trial, discord or temptation).
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
