The Miqat of Sudan

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 4575 )
Q: In the past, the miqat for the Sudanese pilgrims for Hajj was al-Juhfah, and the ship would sound its horn to announce the boundary of ihram for the pilgrims. However, after the arrival of airplanes, the ihram of the Sudanese pilgrims became from Jeddah . After their arrival in Jeddah , they spend long days there in their ordinary clothes. The question: Is it permissible to enter ihram from Jeddah ? Is it permissible for them to enter ihram on the same day of their arrival, or according to what they deem appropriate?
A : Jeddah is not a miqat for Hajj or 'Umrah except for those who reside there or are permanent residents, and likewise for one who arrives there for a need without intending to perform Hajj or 'Umrah, but then decides to perform Hajj or 'Umrah. As for one who has a miqat before it, such as Dhul-Hulayfah for the people of Madinah and those beyond it, or one who passes by it by land or air, and al-Juhfah for its people and those who pass by it by land or sea or fly over it, and Yalamlam likewise, it is obligatory for him to enter ihram from his miqat or from a place that aligns with it by air, sea, or land.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
