Endowing fabrics to serve as shrouds for deceased Muslims, on the condition that an equivalent amount is returned

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 1202 )
Q1: Some benefactors endow a quantity of fabric as a waqf (endowment) for the shrouds of the deceased, meaning: if a person dies and his family does not have a shroud at the present time, they take a shroud for their deceased from this quantity as a loan, and then they return an equivalent amount. The question is asked about the ruling on this?
A1: The Committee sees no harm in this, and this type of endowment does not fall outside the name of endowments and their rulings. It is similar to one who endows a sum of money, gold, silver, or otherwise, for lending to the needy and then its return. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
