Fatwa No. ( 2902 )
Q: I am a young Muslim, and I was asked to work as a promoter for one of the companies specializing in life, accident, and health insurance. Since the matter was confusing to me regarding its permissibility and prohibition in the Shari'ah, I decided to seek your ruling, hoping to find the best answer on this topic.
A: Commercial insurance is forbidden; because it contains ignorance, excessive uncertainty in a contract, gambling, usury or interest, and other such prohibitions, it is not permissible to work for an insurance company as a promoter for it.
