My question is about the ruling on castration in the following case: a man who has not been able to marry, who is afflicted with some sins, and who fears for himself because of them.

The questioner : And this is another questioner who says, O honorableThe Shaykh : My question is about the ruling on castration in the following case.

The Shaykh : The ruling?

The questioner : Castration in the following case: a man who has not been able to marry, who is afflicted with some sins, and who fears for himself because of them. Every time he falls into one of them, he repents and immediately stops, and he swears an oath or makes a vow not to return to it a second time, but he does not last long before he falls into it again. This has happened to him repeatedly. Then he resolved to undergo castration and consulted some students of knowledge. They told him that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade it, and they said to him: If you repent with a sincere repentance, then this repentance wipes out what came before it, even if you were to fall into one of these things without excess and then repent again, this would not harm you, by the permission of Allah. They mentioned a hadith to him regarding this. However, this man responded by saying: If Allah is going to forgive me and overlook my sin, I am afraid that my affair will be exposed and I will be disgrified in the eyes of the people, and they will never forget it for me, and it will be a brand of shame on my face as long as I live. For this reason, he is determined to undergo castration to ward off this harm and so that he can devote himself to the obedience of Allah and seeking knowledge. What is your guidance to him in this matter? May Allah reward you with the best reward?

The Shaykh : Yes, my guidance to him is to fear Allah regarding himself and not to carry out his intention of castration, because that is forbidden. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever among you can afford it, let him get married, and whoever cannot then he should fast من استطاع منكم الباءة فليتزوج ومن لم يستطع فعليه بالصوم
Sunan an-Nasa'i 3208Sahih (Darussalam)
So let him be patient and seek reward.
Also, in the present time, Allah the Exalted and Glorious has made available medicines that can reduce desire, so he can contact a trustworthy, advising doctor and complain to him about this matter. However, I do not prefer this either, and I hope that Allah the Exalted will facilitate marriage for him soon so that what he is experiencing is removed from him.
