The caller begins with the most important matters, then the next most important

The first question of Fatwa No. ( 5981 )
Q1: Many young people today say: It is necessary to abandon some of the Sunnah so that there is no disagreement among people. For example: the raising of the hands, the sitting of rest. They say: Islam has priorities, and these matters are among the things that come in later stages, not in the initial stages of the caller’s life, especially the sitting of rest. They consider that if you apply a Sunnah and people start looking at you with a gaze that does not please them, they consider this a fitnah (trial, discord or temptation). They began to cite as evidence (Fitnah is worse than killing) (Fitnah is sleeping; may Allah curse the one who wakes it up). These are arguments, especially since the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to follow him, especially in times of disagreement, where he (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the hadith of al-'Arba' ibn Sari'ah , after mentioning matters, he said:
for those of you who live after me will see great disagreement. You must then follow my sunnah and that of the rightly-guided caliphsومن يعش بعدي فسيرى اختلافًا كثيرًا؛ فعليكم بسنتي وسنة الخلفاء الراشدين من بعدي
Sunan Abi Dawud 4607Sahih (Al-Albani)
... etc.

A1: First: Callers to Allah the Exalted, in what they call people to, should begin with the most important, then the next most important; in compliance with his (peace and blessings be upon him) saying to Mu'adh when he sent him to Yemen :
You are going to a people who are people of the book. So call them to bear witness that there is no diety but Allah, and that I am the Messenger of Allah. If they obey you in this respect, tell them that Allah has prescribed five prayers on them every day and night. If they obey you in this regard tell them that Allah has prescribed sadaqah(zakat) on their property and returned it to their poor.
Sunan Abi Dawud 1584Sahih (Al-Albani)
... "The hadith is agreed upon as authentic. And they should not occupy themselves
with these ranks by disagreement in some branches and Sunnah, like what was mentioned in the question; because the matter in that is easy considering it is a place of consideration and ijtihad (independent legal reasoning). Callers among Muslims should clarify the Shari'ah rulings: their obligatory, recommended, forbidden, disliked, and permissible aspects. There is no harm in some people disagreeing with them in that, if they have sought the evidence from the Book and the Sunnah in what they say and do. Second: Their individuals should adhere to the Sunnah in themselves as much as they can, and be a good example in their actions, the reality of their worship, their dealings, and their behavior; giving people the image of the committed Muslim caller to Allah by his word and deed in the fundamentals and branches. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.
