Remembrance of Allah in a group with a single voice in the manner of the Sufis is a religious innovation

Fatwa number ( 5034 ):
Q: I hope you will issue a ruling on a group that gathers in the mosques, remembers Allah, and remembers His Messenger, but includes in their dhikr (remembrance) some things that contradict tawhid (the oneness of Allah), such as saying in unison: "Take my hand, O Messenger of Allah." They repeat this, and one of them leads them, saying: "O key to the treasures of Allah – O Ka'bah for the manifestation of Allah – O Throne for the rising above of Allah – O Footstool for the hanging down of Allah – So make us joyful, O Messenger of Allah, you are the intended one, O beloved of Allah – You, you are the Messenger of Allah..." and so on, of this type filled with shirk (associating partners with Allah).
A: First: Reciting the remembrance of Allah in a group with a single voice in the manner of the Sufis is a religious innovation. It is established from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
'A'isha reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: He who innovates things in our affairs for which there is no valid (reason) (commits sin) and these are to be rejected.
Sahih Muslim 1718a
. Second: Calling upon other than Allah and seeking aid from Him to relieve a distress or remove a calamity is major shirk, and it is not permissible to do so. This is because supplication and seeking aid are acts of worship and nearness to Allah alone, so directing them to other than Him is major shirk that takes one out of Islam, and may Allah protect us from that. Allah the Exalted said:
(106) And do not invoke besides Allah that which neither benefits you nor harms you, for if you did, then indeed you would be of the wrongdoers.'" (107) And if Allah should touch you with adversity, there is no remover of it except Him; and if He intends for you good, then there is no repeller of His bounty. He causes it to reach whom He wills of His servants. And He is the Forgiving, the Mercifulوَلاَ تَدْعُ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ مَا لاَ يَنْفَعُكَ وَلاَ يَضُرُّكَ فَإِنْ فَعَلْتَ فَإِنَّكَ إِذًا مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ (106) وَإِنْ يَمْسَسْكَ اللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ فَلا كَاشِفَ لَهُ إِلا هُوَ وَإِنْ يُرِدْكَ بِخَيْرٍ فَلا رَادَّ لِفَضْلِهِ يُصِيبُ بِهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
[Yunus 10:106-107]

And Allah the Exalted said:
And [He revealed] that the masjids are for Allah, so do not invoke with Allah anyone.
[Al-Jinn 72:18]
, and Allah the Exalted said:
And whoever invokes besides Allah another deity for which he has no proof - then his account is only with his Lord. Indeed, the disbelievers will not succeed.
[Al-Mu'minun 23:117]
... and so on, of the verses indicating the obligation of directing worship to Allah alone. It is established in the hadith that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When you ask, ask Allah, and when you seek aid, seek Allah's aid.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2516Hasan (Darussalam)
the hadith, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Supplication is worship
. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
