Seeking aid from a dead person and from the living who are not present

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of fatwa number ( 4259 ):
Q1: What is the ruling on seeking aid from a dead person by saying, "Help, so-and-so," and what is the ruling on seeking it also from the living who are not present for that person seeking aid?
A1: First: The one who seeks aid from a dead person by saying, "Help, so-and-so," must be advised and warned that this is forbidden, indeed it is shirk (associating partners with Allah). If he persists in it, he is a mushrik (one who associates partners with Allah) and a disbeliever; because he sought from other than Allah what only Allah is able to do, so he diverted the right of Allah to the created being. Allah the Exalted said:
Indeed, he who associates others with Allah - Allah has forbidden him Paradise, and his refuge is the Fireإِنَّهُ مَنْ يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدْ حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ وَمَأْوَاهُ النَّارُ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:72]
the verse. Second: Seeking aid from a living person who is not present is not permissible; because he called upon other than Allah and sought from Him what only Allah the Exalted is able to do, and it is shirk (associating partners with Allah) as well. Allah the Exalted said:
So whoever would hope for the meeting with his Lord - let him do righteous work and not associate in the worship of his Lord anyone."فَمَنْ كَانَ يَرْجُو لِقَاءَ رَبِّهِ فَلْيَعْمَلْ عَمَلا صَالِحًا وَلاَ يُشْرِكْ بِعِبَادَةِ رَبِّهِ أَحَدًا
[Al-Kahf 18:110]
Calling upon a living person who is absent is a type of worship. So whoever does that is advised, and if he does not accept, he is a mushrik (one who associates partners with Allah) with shirk (associating partners with Allah) that takes him out of the religion. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
