Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The honorable Shaykh says: I hope for clarification regarding this matter, which has been confusing for me and for some people. It is: What is the ruling on persisting in or frequently wiping the face with the hands after supplication, especially since people cite a hadith mentioned by Ibn Hajar (may Allah have mercy on him) in Bulugh al-Maram?

The Shaykh : Yes. Wiping the face with the hands after supplication is considered a religious innovation by some scholars. Among those who held this view was Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him). He stated that the hadiths reported regarding this matter are weak and that they do not compensate for one another. Some scholars hold that the hadiths reported regarding this matter, taken together, constitute good hadiths that are acted upon. The matter is broad in this regard. There is no blame on one who wipes his face, and it is better for one who leaves it. Yes.
