The carpet bearing the name of Allah

Fatwa No. ( 1614 ):
Praise be to Allah alone, and may blessings and peace be upon the one after whom there is no prophet. And after: The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta has reviewed what was sent to His Eminence the President General from the inquirer, the Director General of Customs, and referred to the Committee by the General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars. The question is: Various types of carpets of different sizes arrive through customs for some merchants, and some of them inquired about the possibility of
allowing carpets that bear the Name of the Exalted or the name of Muhammad, Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) or not, as is clear from the attached sample. These items are hung on the wall and not placed on the floor
After the Committee studied the question, it answered as follows: It is not permissible to allow carpets on which the Name of the Exalted or the name of Muhammad, Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is written; because of the resulting disrespect by using them as floor coverings and praying on them, and the fact that they are placed on walls is not adhered to by everyone who has these carpets, but some people hang them on the wall while others spread them on the floor, and among the established principles in the Shari'ah is blocking the means to violating the prohibitions of Allah. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
