Seeking aid from the dead and supplicating to them other than Allah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 4154 ):
Q: A man is the imam of a mosque in one of the villages of Egypt where we live, and he is of the Sufis and the Shadhiliyyah order, which they call themselves. This man calls people and teaches them tawassul (seeking nearness to Allah through a means) through Allah’s creations, such as the prophets and the awliya (close friends of Allah), and invites them to visit shrines (domes) , and he permits them to swear by the Prophet and the wali, and to pay expiation for this oath if the one who swore breaks it. We are a group of Islamic groups who confronted him about this error he commits and teaches to people, but he is insistent on it, and he cites weak and fabricated hadiths. So, is it permissible to pray behind him? Because we have not yet completed the construction of the mosque; we collected donations to build this mosque, but it has not been built to this day. We ask for your fatwa on this question, and may Allah guide you and us. In addition to this, he declared the scholars of Islam to be disbelievers, such as the Shaykh al-Islam Ahmad ibn Taymiyyah , and the Imam Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab (may Allah be pleased with them and have mercy on them).
A: Calling upon the dead or supplicating to them other than Allah, or alongside Allah, is major shirk (associating partners with Allah) that takes one out of the fold of Islam, whether the one called upon is a Prophet or not. Likewise, calling upon the absent is major shirk that takes one out of the fold of Islam, may Allah protect us from it. Their prayer behind them is invalid due to their shirk. As for the one who calls upon Allah and asks Him alone, seeking nearness to Allah through their status, or circumambulates
around their graves without believing that they have any effect, but rather hoping that their rank with Allah will be a cause for Allah to respond to him, he is an innovator who commits a sin by engaging in one of the means of shirk, and it is feared that this may lead him to fall into major shirk. We ask Allah to help you in spreading tawhid (the oneness of Allah), supporting the truth, and fighting the innovators. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
