Ruling on the women of the Bohra kissing the hand and foot of their leader and the hand of every member of his family

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q2: All the women kiss his hand and foot. Is it permissible in Islam for a man who is not a mahram to the women to touch the hands of the senior scholar? And this practice is not limited to the senior scholar, but extends to every member of his family?
A2: First: What was mentioned regarding the women of the Bohra kissing the hand and foot of their leader and the hand and foot of every member of his family is not permissible. This was not known during the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) nor during the time of any of the Rightly Guided Caliphs. This is because it involves exaggeration in honoring the created, and it is a path to shirk (associating partners with Allah).
Second: It is not permissible for a man to shake hands with a woman who is not a mahram to him, nor to touch her body. This is because it leads to fitnah (trial, discord or temptation), and because it is a path to something worse than it, namely zina (unlawful sexual intercourse) and its means. It is established from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said:
Narrated `Urwa: Aisha the wife of the Prophet, said, "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) used to examine the believing women who migrated to him in accordance with this Verse: 'O Prophet! When believing women come to you to take the oath of allegiance to you... Verily! Allah is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful.' (60.12) `Aisha said, "And if any of the believing women accepted the condition (assigned in the above-mentioned Verse), Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) would say to her. "I have accepted your pledge of allegiance." "He would only say that, for, by Allah, his hand never touched, any lady during that pledge of allegiance. He did not receive their pledge except by saying, "I have accepted your pledge of allegiance for that."
Sahih al-Bukhari 4891
. If the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not take the pledge of allegiance from women by shaking hands, but only by words, despite the presence of the reason for shaking hands and his being protected from sin and the safety from fitnah regarding him, then others from his Ummah (the Muslim community) are more deserving of avoiding shaking hands with women who are not mahrams to them. In fact, it is forbidden for them to do so, let alone kissing his hand and foot and the hands and feet of the members of his family. It is authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
But I do not shake hands with women.إني لا أصافح النساء
Sunan Ibn Majah 2874Sahih (Darussalam)
, and Allah
the Exalted said:
There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent patternلَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ
[Al-Ahzab 33:21]
