The questioner : May Allah reward the honorableThe Shaykh : It has been observed in recent Ramadan months that the mu'adhhdhins vary, especially in the Fajr adhan. It has reached us that you propose adding five minutes to the Umm al-Qura calendar specifically. Is this correct?

The Shaykh : Yes, this is correct. In the last few days, many papers have been sent to me by brothers I trust. They say: The calendar is ahead of the dawn, some exaggerating to a third of an hour, twenty minutes. Some say a quarter of an hour. They wrote us papers, and they also wrote us data, data for every season. Indeed, for every day. But in any case, a person should be cautious in fasting, and it will not harm him, if Allah wills, if he advances by five minutes. But in prayer, this is the problem I am very concerned about, in prayer, because some people, when the Fajr adhan is called, they get up and pray, whether in their homes or in some mosques, and this is a mistake. If you say the takbir of ihram before the time, only the takbir of ihram, your obligation is not discharged and you have not performed the obligatory prayer. And we hear that some people, as soon as the adhan is called and the adhan ends, they say: Iqamah. Meaning, this is the problem. Meaning, which is more dangerous: to eat after the dawn has risen and you did not know it had risen, or to pray and you did not know that the dawn had risen. Which is more dangerous? The second is more dangerous. The second is more dangerous. The Fajr prayer is not valid and the obligation is not discharged by it unless you are certain or you have a strong conviction that the time has entered. Yes.
