Seeking Nearness to Allah Through the Status, Self, or Rank of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 6949 ):
Q1: Some scholars say: (That tawassul is a jurisprudential issue, not a creedal issue). How is that?

A1: Seeking nearness to Allah in supplication through the status, self, or rank of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is not prescribed; because it is a path to shirk (associating partners with Allah), the discussion of it is for the purpose of clarifying the truth among the topics of creed. As for seeking nearness to Allah through His names (Glorified and Exalted is He), His attributes, and by following His Messenger and acting upon what He brought in terms of creed and rulings, this is prescribed. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
