The questioner : May Allah reward the honorableThe Shaykh : What is the stronger position, in your esteemed opinion, regarding one who arrives at Muzdalifah before the call to the night prayer: when should he pray the sunset and night prayers? And is it permissible for us to delay the night prayer until after midnight so that we can reach Muzdalifah, or should we stop in the middle of the road and pray? Because sometimes we do not find a suitable place until after midnight?

The Shaykh : I say: If one departs from 'Arafah to Muzdalifah, and the journey holds him up until he approaches midnight, it is obligatory for him to pray the night prayer. It is not permissible for him to delay it until after midnight, because the time for the night prayer ends with what? With midnight. That is one point. Get off the vehicle and pray the sunset and night prayers. And if one departs from 'Arafah to Muzdalifah and arrives at Muzdalifah before the call to the night prayer, he may pray the sunset and night prayers combined as an early combination, not a delayed combination? Early combination, because he arrived before the night prayer. He prays the early combination and there is no blame on him, because he is a traveler, and because that is easier, especially in our present time with the large number of pilgrims. And if a person goes to perform ablution, he might miss his group. So he may combine them as an early combination whenever he arrives at Muzdalifah. Yes.
