Was Ibn 'Umar's action of taking what exceeded a handful specific?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : In this previous hadith, meaning Ibn 'Umar's action, is it specific, as the brother asked?

The Shaykh : No, no, because first of all, it did not come specifically in every narration reported from him; rather, in Hajj and 'Umrah, it came in a general form.

The questioner : Meaning, there is a narration regarding Hajj and 'Umrah, and narrations regarding other than Hajj and 'Umrah.

The Shaykh : Yes, that is one point. The second point is in other narrations from some of the Companions that they used to take from their beards specifically during the season, specifically during the season. Third and finally, it does not appear that this taking was specific to Hajj. Even if we assume that no other narration came from Ibn 'Umar, it does not appear that the taking was a specific feature of Hajj. Personally, it is my custom to save my hair so that I shave it during Hajj, do you see? But this does not mean that it is not permissible for me to take from my hair outside the season of Hajj. And the reverse does not mean that it is not permissible to save the hair of the head after Hajj. This is a practical matter, and there is nothing in the Shari'ah indicating the specificity of Hajj in this regard. On the contrary, the opposite is closer to the truth. What is the opposite? That it contradicts the general command of permissibility:
And let the beards grow وأعفوا اللحى
. So what is it that specifies Hajj by permitting the violation of the general command? On the contrary, the correct view is that we see that Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), who narrated this hadith and heard it from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), at the same time saw the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) taking from his beard. All of us know Ibn 'Umar's exaggeration in following the Messenger (peace be upon him) to the extent that the majority of scholars narrated it as an impermissible exaggeration. If Ibn 'Umar did not see the Messenger taking from his beard, he would not have contradicted him, as he was the most zealous of people in following him.

The questioner : Meaning, is it established that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) took from his beard, or is this from the action of Ibn 'Umar?

The Shaykh : If it were established, I would say it is established and the matter is ended. We are trying to prove that the Messenger was taking by way of deduction.

The questioner : By way of deduction.

The Shaykh : From the action of Ibn 'Umar along with his narration of the hadith.

The questioner : Given that he was the most zealous of people in adhering to the Sunnah, why do we not take his narration that speaks about facing the qiblah and turning one's back to it, and prefer it in the matter of building?

The Shaykh : I did not take the answer for tomorrow.

The questioner : Meaning, that he was the most zealous of people in adhering to the Sunnah.

The Shaykh : I did not take the answer in the morning.

The questioner : We say, meaning, I return to the example.

The Shaykh : So you repeat the question after the answer. "In place, about" in the military system, "In place, about." Not the question, develop it.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Meaning, learn the dialect.

The questioner : I came now because it is more intense.

The Shaykh : Not now, I brought it and you are repeating it. You did not come with anything new. Say.
