Examples of the error of Imam Abu Hanifah (may Allah have mercy on him) in hadith.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Among the examples of his error in his description of some hadiths is that he narrated, through his chain, from a famous Tabi'i, Ibn al-Had, and this is from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever has an imam, the recitation of the imam is his recitation من كان له إمام فقراءة الإمام له قراءة
Sunan ad-Daraqutni 3:309
Abu Hanifah narrated this hadith from Ibn al-Had from Jabir, traced back to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). However, he was contradicted by one who is known to be a mountain in memorization, precision, and accuracy, namely Sufyan ibn Sa'id al-Thawri. Sufyan narrated it from Ibn al-Had as a mursal, saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said. Thus, Sufyan and Abu Hanifah differed here regarding the method of narrating this hadith. Abu Hanifah traced it back from Ibn al-Had to Jabir, while Sufyan traced it back from Ibn al-Had to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), without mentioning Jabir between Ibn al-Had and the Messenger. Imam al-Daraqutni said in his *Musnad*: "This chain of narration—which Abu Hanifah narrated—is weak due to the weakness of Abu Hanifah", meaning: in terms of his memorization.
