If a traveler prays with a congregation in the mosque, does he pray the regular voluntary prayers?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
He says:The questioner : If a traveler prays with a congregation in the mosque, does he pray the regular voluntary prayers?

The Shaykh : If a traveler prays...?

The questioner: Yes ... .

The Shaykh : With a congregation, does he pray the regular voluntary prayers?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : The answer is no. For the traveler, the recommended practice (sunnah) in his case, whether he prays in his lodging or in a mosque with a congregation, is not to pray any of the regular voluntary prayers. The only exceptions to this are the sunnah of Fajr and the sunnah of Witr. These are also excepted in the mosque, and they are also among the recommended practices. Some scholars classify these as voluntary prayers with specific causes. So, a voluntary prayer that has a cause, he also prays... Likewise, the sunnah of wudu: if the traveler performs wudu, he may pray two rak'ahs. As for the well-known regular voluntary prayers: two before Dhuhr, two after Dhuhr, two before Maghrib, two after Maghrib, and two after Isha; the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not consistently perform these during his travels, except for the two rak'ahs of Fajr and the Witr, the number of whose rak'ahs varies between one and eleven. This is the answer to the previous question.
