Why did you not complete the verification of the book "Fiqh al-Sunnah"? And do you advise us to read it?

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good. Regarding "Fiqh al-Sunnah"...?

The Shaykh : How?

The questioner : You only verified the first volume, why did you not complete it? And do you advise us to read this book—may Allah reward you all with good—?

The Shaykh : As for why I did not complete it, that is due to the many academic circumstances surrounding us. As for whether we advise it, yes, we advise reading this book; because for the present time, it is the most suitable book in terms of the ease of its style and its organization. Even though the author is not like other verified scholars such as al-San'ani and al-Shawkani and others, let alone Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn al-Qayyim. However, there is nothing now that we advise except this book, or the book "al-Rawdat al-Nadiyyah," which is a commentary on "al-Durar al-Bahiyyah" by Sidiq Hasan Khan. It is a text and a commentary, so its style is in the old manner, whereas Sayyid Sabiq's style is, so to speak, lenient and easy. But Sidiq Hasan Khan is more knowledgeable than him and closer to the correct Sunnah than the book "Fiqh al-Sunnah." I had elaborated on the book in my introduction to "Tammam al-Mannah fi al-Ta'liq 'ala Fiqh al-Sunnah," and among what I mentioned there is that he often mentions the opinions in a single issue and then leaves them as they are, causing the reader to be perplexed as to which of these different opinions is correct. That is because it was not easy for him to conduct precise research to prefer one opinion over those others. Whereas al-Shawkani, al-San'ani, and Sidiq Hasan Khan, in most cases, must mention the stronger opinion among those opinions.
