A note on al-Dhahabi's book

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Al-Halabi : Regarding the example our brother Jamal gave about the issue of al-Dhahabi's *Al-Kaba'ir* (Major Sins), the reality is that the example may be correct with regard to the popular copies, if that expression is permissible, of the edition of *Al-Kaba'ir*. Otherwise, the version that our brotherThe Shaykh : Mashhur relied on, based on two handwritten manuscripts from the time of Imam al-Dhahabi or his students, was free of all these topics and weak hadiths, except for a few hadiths that barely amount to one handful. He says, "And al-Hakim narrated it in his *Mustadrak* and authenticated it, and the responsibility lies with him, so-and-so." In it is the same al-Dhahabi. As for the famous book *Al-Kaba'ir*, indeed, this does not contain any of al-Dhahabi's work.

The Shaykh : That is, you think there is an addition in it
Al-Halabi : Many additions, and it appears that each person was a preacher who, upon seeing the book, would add hadiths and so on. As for the book that relied on the majority of the handwritten manuscripts, which are high-quality and elevated copies, it contains nothing of these fabrications or forgeries.

The Shaykh : Fine, this is a useful note.
