The opinion regarding al-Waqidi and taking from him according to the Salafis.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : It is known or established among the people of al-jarh wa al-ta'dil (the critique and vindication of narrators) that al-Waqidi lied and that one should not take from him; does this mean not taking from his book "al-Maghazi"? And what do we do with "Tabaqat Ibn Sa'd" and al-Waqidi...?

The Shaykh : As for "Mughazi Ibn Ishaq," it has no value; the book "Mughazi Ibn Ishaq" has no value. As for what we do with "Tabaqat Ibn Sa'd," we avoid his narrations from his shaykh al-Waqidi, and what remains of the other narrations that he relates from other than al-Waqidi contains good and blessing.
