Ruling on a woman uncovering her hair in front of a female People of the Book, such as a servant.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it permissible for a woman to uncover her hair in front of a female People of the Book, such as a servant or others?

The Shaykh : This is also a topic we have discussed recently, perhaps yesterday. We say: It is not permissible for a Muslim woman to appear before a disbelieving woman, whether she is from the People of the Book or otherwise. It is not permissible for her to appear before her except as she appears before a man. This is because Allah (Mighty and Majestic), when He permitted Muslim women to reveal parts of their bodies—namely, the places of adornment—He conditioned this by saying (Blessed and Exalted is He):
or their women أو نسائهنَّ
. He attributed the women to them, indicating that this ruling is specific to Muslim women. Therefore, it is not permissible for a Muslim woman to reveal any of her hair in front of her disbelieving servant.
