The Likeness of the People of Pure Denial of the Divine Attributes

The Shaykh : ... But it is sufficient for me to mention now what came from some of the imams of the later generations (the Khalaf) regarding the claim they asserted of purifying Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and they denied this attribute of Him, the attribute of being above; they said: "Our Lord (Mighty and Majestic) cannot be said or described as being above or below, on the right or the left, in front or behind, inside the world or outside of it." This is how they speak about their object of worship. "Allah," they say, "the people who deny the attributes say, 'Allah is not above, not below, not on the right, not on the left, not in front, not behind, not inside the world, and not outside of it.'" If it were said to the most eloquent of people in expression: "Describe for us the non-existent," he would not be able to describe it with more than what these people who deny the attributes describe their true object of worship (Glorified and Exalted is He) with; where they said: "Not above, not below, not on the right, not on the left," and so on with this phrase!!
