The questioner : Malik narrated to me from his uncle, Abu Suhayl ibn Malik, from his father, who said: I was with 'Uthman ibn 'Affan (may Allah be pleased with him), and he stood for the prayer, and I was speaking to him about appointing me to a position, so I kept speaking to him while he was straightening the pebbles, straightening the pebbles with his sandals, until men came to him whom he had entrusted with straightening the rows, and they informed him that the rows had been straightened, so he said to me: Straighten yourself in the row, then say the takbir; is it authentic?

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner: Correct.

The Shaykh : But, so he said to me, what?

The questioner : So he said to me: Straighten yourself in the row.

The Shaykh : Straighten yourself?

The questioner : It seems he said, straighten yourself in the row.

The Shaykh : Yes, 'Uthman said to him?

The questioner : 'Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said to the one he had entrusted, after he finished and informed him that the rows had been straightened, he said: And that he himself should straighten himself, then 'Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said the takbir. He said to him: Straighten yourself, meaning in the row, then 'Uthman said the takbir. The one being addressed is 'Uthman ibn 'Affan (may Allah be pleased with him), and the one being spoken to is the one entrusted with straightening the rows.

The Shaykh : No. The questioner.

The questioner : Perhaps the reverse.

The Shaykh : The questioner, the questioner.

The questioner : The questioner?

The Shaykh : The questioner, who is the uncle of what? His uncle Abu Suhayl?

The questioner : Yes, from his uncle Abu Suhayl ibn Malik from his father.

The Shaykh : His father?

The questioner: Yes.
...

The Shaykh : This is correct.

The questioner : The report is authentic.
