Permissible and Prohibited Tawassul
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : ... Do not be harsh with those who differ from you; attribute their tawassul to this meaning. But they refuse to accept this from us, so how do you want us to interpret the words of those who differ from us in a way that contradicts us? I even mentioned on an occasion like this that the involvement of these people who engage in tawassul other than the permissible tawassul has reached the point where one of the doctors, who is still alive, claims the permissibility of tawassul through the excrement of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Instead of attributing such people to the correct path, they direct them to the permissible path: that tawassul is through the tawassul person's faith in the Messenger, his following of the Messenger, and his love for the Messenger. They leave those people and attribute our brothers to extremism. The point is that this man has good deeds and bad deeds. His speech regarding tawhid and his following of the Book and the Sunnah, as appears from him, and his honoring and revering Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn al-Qayyim, is a good matter. But it seems there are old remnants, namely the Sufism he lived in Aleppo, especially since I heard him speak well of one of the later-generation shaykhs in Aleppo, and our Salafi brothers in Aleppo complained bitterly about him because of his hostility to the da'wah. He speaks well of him. So it seems he returned to his old methodology and was sincere in it, and the poet's saying is true of him:
"And whatever character a person has, *** Even if he thinks it is hidden from people, it will be known."
So the measure (sa') was hidden from him, and his Sufism appeared through seeking blessing from the traces of the righteous. It appears he stopped at some of my words where I restricted seeking blessing to the lifetime of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). They argue against us with such traces, and our methodology was very clear, praise be to Allah. Now, let us pray.
