[The Meaning of the Saying: (The Believer's Intention Is Better Than His Deed)]
Your Eminence, may Allah forgive you,What is the meaning of the saying of some people: Is the believer's intention better than his deed?
It means that the intention may achieve what the deed does not achieve,For example: that a man is unable to perform an act of obedience, so he wishes to attain this act of obedience and intends it, so this may be better than the deed,And for this reason it came in the hadith: (Whoever does not go on jihad and does not stir up his soul with the thought of jihad dies upon a branch of hypocrisy) ,And it is established from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: (Whoever asks Allah for martyrdom with sincerity, Allah grants him the rank of the martyrs even if he dies on his bed) .

The questioner: What is excluded from this?Answer: It is excluded if a person is capable of the deed but he did not do it,So we do not say: this man's intention is better than his deed; because if we said this, the person would remain capable of obedience, not performing the obedience, and saying: the intention is better than the deed.
