[The Meaning of the Saying of Allah the Exalted: (Corruption has appeared on land and at sea)]

Your Eminence! Allah the Exalted says:
Corruption has appeared throughout the land and seaظَهَرَ الْفَسَادُ فِي الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ
[Surat al-Rum: 41] Does the verse mean what it literally says, or is the land the tongue and the sea the heart, as in some exegeses?
“Corruption has appeared on land and at sea” is to be understood literally: the land is the dry part of the earth, and the sea is that which is covered by water. As for interpreting it as the heart and the tongue, that is an error, and it is not permissible to interpret the verse in that way.Because Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, says:
(193) The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down (194) Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners - (195) In a clear Arabic language.نَزَلَ بِهِ الرُّوحُ الأَمِينُ * عَلَى قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنْ الْمُنذِرِينَ * بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِيٍّ مُبِينٍ
[Surat al-Shu'ara: 193-195] And the clear Arabic language requires that the land be the dry part of the earth and the sea be that which is covered by water. The corruption on land is apparent; it occurs through drought and the lack of vegetation, or through violent winds. Likewise, in the sea, it occurs through the corruption of the air, the death of fish, and other clear harms.
