Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (And his wife, the carrier of firewood)]
Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Masad:4] Meaning: And so it is with his wife, along with him—may Allah protect us from that—she was a woman of the nobles of Quraysh, but her nobility did not benefit her in any way; because she participated with her husband in aggression, sin, and remaining in disbelief,And his statement: [Al-Masad:4] It was recited with the accusative case and with the nominative case. As for the accusative, it functions as a state (hal) describing the wife,Meaning: and his wife, in the state of being the carrier of firewood, or it is in the accusative case for the purpose of blame;Because a detached description may be put in the accusative case for the purpose of blame, meaning: They disparaged the woman who carried firewood, and as for the reading with the nominative case, it is a description of a woman. [al-Masad:4] What is the firewood that she carries, and that she carries in large quantities? (Hamalat) is a form of exaggeration; they mentioned that she carried firewood containing thorns and placed it on the path of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) — and may Allah protect us from that — in order to harm the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
