Exegesis of Verses from Surat al-Alaq

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.

To proceed: This is the eighty-second meeting after the hundredth, known as the Open Door Meeting, which takes place every Thursday of every week. This is the twentieth Thursday of the month of Rajab, year 1415 AH.
It was our custom to begin this meeting with the exegesis of a verse from the Book of Allah, Mighty and Majestic; because the Book of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, was revealed for several purposes: among them is worshipping Allah the Exalted by reciting it, for reciting the Book of Allah is a means of drawing near to Allah, and the reward for each letter of it is ten good deeds.

And among them: It was revealed for the purpose of reflecting on its meanings,As He, the Exalted, said:
[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded.كِتَابٌ أَنْزَلْنَاهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَارَكٌ لِيَدَّبَّرُوا آيَاتِهِ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُولُو الْأَلْبَابِ
[38:29] Many people have overlooked this purpose,I do not say: not only the general public, but even students of knowledge. You will find some students who are concerned with explaining hadiths or the words of jurists or other scholars of the Shari'ah, but they are not concerned with the exegesis of the Book of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, even though the Book of Allah is the mother of all books, and to it all books refer. The Book of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, is that which charged us to reflect on its verses and to take admonition from them. For this reason, we see that it is not befitting for a student of knowledge to turn away from the exegesis of the Book of Allah while he is concerned with the exegesis of the words of other than Allah, Mighty and Majestic.
We began this exegesis with Surat al-Naba; because this part is often recited in prayers, such as the Maghrib and 'Isha' prayers, so the general public hears it. It is good for them to know the meanings of this part of the Book of Allah, Mighty and Majestic. The verses of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, in the Noble Book are similar to one another; you may find some verses with their exact text and wording in another place,Such as the saying of Allah the Exalted:
O Prophet, fight against the disbelievers and the hypocrites and be harsh upon them. And their refuge is Hell, and wretched is the destination.
[9:73] This verse appeared with its wording in another place in the Book of Allah; it appeared in al-Tawbah and it appeared in Surat al-Tahrim, so the Book of Allah resembles parts of itself.
In this meeting, we will explain Surat (Iqra), as we have, praise be to Allah, completed what came before.
