Exegesis of Verses from Surat al-Sharh

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.

To proceed: This is the seventy-ninth of the weekly gatherings that take place every Thursday, and this Thursday is the twenty-first of the month of Jumada al-Akhirah, year 1415 AH. In it, we first speak about what is facilitated from Surat:
Did We not expand for you, [O Muhammad], your breast?أَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ
[al-Sharh: 1] where we had ended in our previous session after having started from Surat al-Naba. We chose this portion of the Book of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, because the surahs in it are frequently recited, so people benefit from them, and their recitation is frequent in prayer;Because the scholars say: The recommended practice in prayer is to recite from the long surahs of the final section in the Fajr prayer, from the short surahs of the final section in the Maghrib prayer, and from the middle surahs of the final section in the rest. The long surahs of the final section are from Surat (Qaf) to Surat (Am), the short ones are from Surat (al-Duha) to the end of the Qur'an, and the middle ones are from Surat (al-Naba - Surat Am) to Surat (al-Duha). This is the general rule, and there is no harm in reciting from the long surahs of the final section in the Maghrib prayer, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sometimes recited from them.
