The Shaykh : Regarding books of Islamic jurisprudence, or Islamic jurisprudence in general, we advise acquiring the book *Al-Rawdat al-Nadiyyah Sharh al-Durar al-Bahiyyah* by al-Siddiq Hasan Khan, or its original text *Al-Durar al-Bahiyyah* by al-Shawkani, along with his commentary on it. Then we advise acquiring *Fiqh al-Sunnah* by al-Sayyid Sabiq, because in reality, in the present age, he attempted to follow the hadith-based methodology that opposes adherence to a single school of jurisprudence, and he succeeded to a great extent. However, some things can be criticized in it, and this is what we did previously when we composed our book *Tammam al-Mannah fi al-Ta'liq 'ala Fiqh al-Sunnah*, which has now been printed in a new edition and will soon, if Allah wills, be available in the market.
It is not sufficient for a student of knowledge to limit himself to these books, but these are considered a key for him. After that, he must focus on studying *Subul al-Salam*, the commentary on *Bulugh al-Maram* by al-Amir al-San'ani. Then he should progress to studying *Nail al-Awtar*, the commentary on *Muntakha al-Akhbar* by Imam al-Shawkani. Then he should read *Al-Muhallá* by Muhammad ibn Hazm al-Andalusi, avoiding its anomalies. He will not be able to avoid them until he has become proficient in the Islamic jurisprudence of the Book and the Sunnah by studying the books that revolve around this methodology.
