The ruling on turning off external microphones in mosques during prayer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Your Eminence! A decision or circular was issued in our region by the Waqf Authority to turn off the external loudspeakers, but the imams found opposition from the congregation, and many of the congregation are objecting. So now they are in a difficult situation; what is the solution, Your Eminence?
As for the imams, they must obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among them. As long as they have been ordered to do so, it is obligatory for them to execute the order, and they should not concern themselves with the people. Then, the one who demands that the external microphones be turned on has erred; this is because these external microphones disturb the worshippers around them and the people around the other mosques, and harm occurs from this. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited this when he went out to his Companions one day or one night and found them raising their voices in prayer,So he said: (Do not harm one another by reciting) He considered that to be harm,And he said: (Do not raise your voices over one another in recitation) and the harm in this is confirmed and there is no doubt in it, until we heard that in some mosques that are close to one another, if the recitation of the other mosque is better than the recitation of their imam, they listen to it and follow it, to the point that I heard that some of them recited with the imam of the neighboring mosque: [Surat al-Fatihah: 7] He said: Ameen!!! And so the complete harm in this is evident. Therefore, the correct ruling, without doubt, is that they should be turned off, even if the Ministry of Waqf did not order it, because of the harm involved. We have only heard of this recently. What is the benefit of raising the recitation in prayer on the minarets? What is the benefit except that it disturbs the mosques around it and disturbs the worshippers in their homes? In the homes, there are women praying who are disturbed. Also, in the days of summer, it disturbs the children sleeping on the roofs or in the courtyards. Without doubt, turning them off is the correct ruling, and the one who turns them on and people are harmed by it is contrary to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
