Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: (And be patient for the judgment of your Lord)
Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Tur: 48] (And be patient) The address is to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him),And patience is: which is restraining the self from what should not be done,And his statement: (for the judgment of your Lord) includes the cosmic ruling and the legislative ruling,Meaning: Be patient for what your Lord has decreed, namely the obligation to convey the message, even if what befalls you befalls you. Be patient for the cosmic, decreed judgment of your Lord; that is what Allah the Exalted decrees upon you from these foolish people, in the form of mockery, aggression, and injustice. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was afflicted just as his brothers among the messengers were afflicted with great affliction. They placed the placenta of a camel on his back while he was prostrating beneath the Ka'bah, in a place of safety. He was pelted with stones when he went to the people of Ta'if until they bled his heels, may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him. He did not regain consciousness until he was in the land of the foxes, where they threw filth and stench at the threshold of his house, (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: Who are these neighbors?! And this is in compliance with the command of Allah,Where Allah said to him: AND BE PATIENT FOR THE JUDGMENT OF YOUR LORD, FOR YOU ARE UNDER OUR EYE) [Surat al-Tur: 48] Meaning: For we see you with Our eyes, and we watch over you, observe you, and care for you. This is like what a person says to one he fears for and loves: You are in my eye. It is well known that such an expression does not mean that the one addressed is physically inside his eye,Rather, the meaning is: but that you are under my watch and protection.
And in this verse: Affirming the attribute of the Eye for Allah (Mighty and Majestic), which is a reality, but it never resembles the eyes of creation;because of His saying, the Exalted: There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing) [Surat al-Shura: 11] .
Allah the Exalted said:
And be patient, [O Muhammad], for the decision of your Lord
وَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَAnd in this verse: Affirming the attribute of the Eye for Allah (Mighty and Majestic), which is a reality, but it never resembles the eyes of creation;because of His saying, the Exalted: There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing) [Surat al-Shura: 11] .
