The Ruling on Praying Maghrib with Those Who Are Praying 'Isha'

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
There is a question regarding travelers: Sometimes we come to the Maghrib prayer intending to combine it by advancing it, and we see the congregation praying, for example, 'Isha', while we want to combine Maghrib by delaying it. In this case, we are in a difficult situation; because they are completing four rak'ahs while we want three rak'ahs, or is it otherwise?

These have no difficulties, and their solution is: You join them with the intention of Maghrib. If you join them from the first rak'ah, then when the imam stands for the fourth, you sit, recite the tashahhud, and say the taslim. Then you join the imam in the remainder of the 'Isha' prayer. If you catch them in the second rak'ah, you say the taslim with them; because you have prayed three rak'ahs. If you catch them in the third rak'ah, you add one rak'ah, and so on. This is the solution, and there is no difficulty in this, if Allah wills.
