A request from one of the attendees for the Shaykh to defend the Sunnah and Imam al-Bukhari

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : ... the Arab land, particularly regarding the call to Islam, and especially given what is currently happening in the land of Sudan. Many errors and false statements are occurring, particularly concerning the hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the head of the hadith scholars, who is the Shaykh, Imam al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him). Imam al-Bukhari is subjected to a severe and abhorrent campaign... They say that the rules established by al-Bukhari and his like are not the rules that should be adhered to, but rather that we must rely on the knowledge we have been given, especially in our present life regarding arts and knowledge. Since there are now specialists in every field, we must therefore establish new rules... In fact, there is a danger looming before the general public and our youth... The scholars of knowledge, and especially our Shaykh, may Allah reward him with good, should respond to such fabrications and falsehoods that are directed at the Prophetic Sunnah. We prefer that the meeting with our Shaykh be one that follows the pattern of... and in truth, there was much good in it... So I do not know, Shaykh, if Allah wills...

The Shaykh : Praise is to Allah; we praise Him, seek His help, and seek His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of our own souls and from the badness of our deeds. Whomsoever Allah guides, none can misguide, and whomsoever He misguides, none can guide. And I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger. I heard a tape containing speech similar to what was quoted from some Sudanese people who are presumed, or whom some people presume, to be among the scholars of knowledge. So the old Arabic proverb came to my mind: "I hear the noise but I see no grinding." These people say: We should make use of modern means that facilitate for the researcher bringing close what is far and gathering what is scattered and fragmented. By this, they refer to the device known as the computer. So I say in response to what came in the question: First, the ignorance of that speaker in attributing to Imam al-Bukhari alone the establishment of the rules of hadith science, which enable the scholar to know the authentic hadith and the weak one, is clear evidence that this speaker, who says that Imam al-Bukhari is the one who established this, does not know what hadith science is, nor what the terminology of hadith science is. And peace be upon you.
