What is the ruling on bringing a television into the house?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Regarding the ruling on bringing a television in, O Shaykh, one person said that this television is forbidden. He answered this person that the television is forbidden in certain cases: it is lawful if there is a religious seminar that you hear; they said it is forbidden if there is singing and music. So I said to him: "Well, when you leave the house and come to your children?" I said to him, "This is in a question where he said yes." I said to him, "Well, when they were with the music and the films, were they in disobedience or in obedience?" He said, "No, in disobedience." I said to him, "Then this is forbidden." So this is what you told him, may Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : You hit the mark. And the correct question and answer is: What is the ruling on bringing a television into the house? So the answer is: It is not permissible. Why? Because it is used for what you mentioned, yes. But if we imagine a hypothetical scenario now where a person brings a television into the house and does not use it except for what your friend told you, meaning in gatherings or religious seminars, it can be said that this is permissible.
