From seeking nearness to Allah through His attributes to seeking nearness to Him through His actions.

The Shaykh : And among the attributes are the actions, for actions are attributes. An example of this is when you say, “O Allah, I ask You by Your beautiful names and Your exalted attributes.” This is valid seeking nearness to Allah through His attributes. Therefore, seeking nearness to Allah through His attributes can be general or specific. An example of the general is what I mentioned just now. An example of the specific is: Here, through what is one seeking nearness? Through an attribute of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), a single attribute. Yes. And among seeking nearness to Allah through His actions is: “O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim.” Where is the seeking nearness? Where is the seeking nearness? “O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim.” The blessing of Allah upon Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim is an action, an action or a statement. So you are asking Allah, who bestowed His blessing upon Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim, to bestow His blessing upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.
