What is the ruling on insurance for cars, houses, farms, and even life?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says:The questioner : Your Eminence, the problems of insurance for cars, houses, farms, and even life have spread. What is your guidance regarding this, may Allah preserve you?

The Shaykh : By Allah, I am surprised that our people, who are a Muslim nation, praise be to Allah, and are conservative, should be preoccupied with these things, even though our scholars say it is prohibited. That is, the Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta has issued a classification stating that this is forbidden. If we do not obey them, whom shall we obey? Shall we obey the foolish? Shall we obey the ignorant? These are all transactions that are forbidden. It is not permissible for a person to enter into them. Let a person know that he will not remain with wealth, nor will wealth remain with him, and that he does not know; perhaps he will part with his entire worldly life before evening if it is morning, or before morning if it is evening. So why the preoccupation? Insurance is the gambling that Allah the Exalted linked with intoxicants and the worship of idols
indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful.
[Al-Ma'idah 5:90]
For this reason, it is obligatory upon us to advise one another and to enjoin one another to truth, patience, and mercy, and to look at what our scholars say. As for acting without knowing, or perhaps the one who says:
do not ask about things which, if they are shown to you, will distress you لَا تَسْأَلُوا عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ إِنْ تُبْدَ لَكُمْ تَسُؤْكُمْ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:101]
this is not the character of a Muslim, and this is not the concern of the Muslim community. The Muslim community says: I was created to worship Allah, so let me be a worshipper of Allah, to be obedient to Allah in my worship, my transactions, and all my circumstances. Religion is: prayer, fasting, charity, Hajj, kindness, and so on, but not only this. Religion is: worship, transactions, and morals. Just as we worship Allah the Exalted by fulfilling His rights, so we worship Allah the Exalted through transactions. And the longest verse in the Book of Allah, what is it all about? It is about transactions. The longest verse is the verse of debt, and it is about transactions, which indicates that Islam is not only worship, but worship, transactions, morals, and social conduct. So beware, beware of this deviation, and I seek refuge in Allah. Fear Allah in adhering to the scholars, to whom Allah has given knowledge, religion, and trust. We ask Allah for guidance for us and for you.
Yes.
