Continuation of the discussion on the ruling regarding paying off the debt of a deceased person from zakah.

The Shaykh : And the evidence for this is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the evidence for this is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), before Allah opened the doors of wealth for him and it became abundant with him, used to say when a deceased person with a debt was brought to him: and he did not pay off his debt from the zakah. But when Allah opened the doors of wealth for him and it became abundant with him, he used to say when a man with a debt was brought to him: . And he used to pay off the debt and pray over the deceased. Do you understand, may Allah bless you? Good. So, the position of the majority of the Muslim community and its scholars is that zakah is not used to pay off the debt of a deceased person. And because if we were to open this door, paying off the debts of the deceased, a person would calculate the debts owed by his fathers and grandfathers and spend his zakah on them. And people would feel compassion for the deceased and pay their zakah to settle their debts, forgetting the living, because a person's compassion for the dead is stronger than his compassion for the living. And in that case, he would go to the merchants' records and say: "You are seeking so-and-so from such-and-such a house," and he would pay off the debts of the deceased and leave the living. Although which is more deserving? The living or the dead? The living, the living person, because the debt is in his face, so he is more deserving. And the deceased is given good news. Every person who dies leaving a deceased person with a debt, if he had taken it intending to pay it, taking the debt intending to pay it off, then Allah will pay it off for him. This is established from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): Bulugh al-Maram 7:94. And here ends the discussion on zakah. And I ask Allah to make it a source of good and blessing. Until the adhan.
